Help Us Restore Clean Water for Students at Joshua Community Day Secondary School in Manyowe, Blantyre, Malawi.
Students at Joshua school are facing a serious challenge when it comes to accessing clean and safe water. Currently, many of the students walk a long distance to access water, and in most cases, the water they access is not treated, exposing them to the risk of water-borne diseases. The school previously had a solar-powered water system, but the solar water pump stopped working. With the installation of a new submersible pump, the system can be restored and provide a reliable supply of water for the students and the communities around the school.
There is also a shallow, well in the nearby community where the school is located, students and the community fetch water from and, if developed properly and protected, it can provide clean and safe water for daily use. Our goal is to restore the solar-powered water system and ensure that the shallow well is well developed and protected so that students and community members can have consistent access to clean, safe, and treated water. We are therefore appealing to well-wishers, partners, and organizations who can be able to support with technical expertise, equipment, or resources to help restore this water system and develop the Shallow well to a protected and safe well.
Providing a sustainable water source will not only improve the students’ health but also allow them to focus more on their education instead of spending more time walking long distances in search of water and protected them to water borne diseases.
Together, we can make a difference.
